SketchLab envisions a new paradigm in design practice and design education by bridging the creativity of designers with the productivity of AI through sketching. 1) We analyze designers’ ideation and expression methods, as well as their processes of communication and collaboration. 2) We explore intuitive sketching techniques that allow designers to convey their intentions to AI through various inputs such as pen, touch, hand gestures, body movements, and voice. 3) We build harmonious interactive systems that span both the physical world and the VR world. Furthermore, we develop and apply effective AI-powered design tools, processes, and knowledge systems tailored for advanced industries such as robotics, mobility, and synthetic protein, delivering innovative and impactful design outcomes.
